Residential Drop-off Locations – “ERP”

It is my pleasure to announce that we have finally launched our residential drop-off program.  The program’s official name is “E-waste Rescue Point” or ERP.

Those familiar with 4th Bin know that our mission is to provide a solution to NYC’s specific issues with regards to e-waste.  The biggest issue facing New Yorkers is transportation.   How do you get that big, heavy TV out of your apt, down the stairs and over to that highly publicized collection event?  As a local NYer (born and raised here), I’m very familiar with the issues.  We created 4th Bin to solve these issues by coming to your home and taking all of the work and stress off your shoulders.

We realize that many people have small items that don’t require our manpower.  Some people want to do the right thing but simply don’t have the money to pay for our services.  We want to make sure that everyone has an option.  So, we decided to set up ERPs.

Unlike many of our competitors, we’re not looking to work with the large retail chains.  As a local company, we want to best serve our community by partnering with small to mid-size, independently owned local businesses.  Over time, this will allow us to blanket the city with ERPs while also showcasing local entrepreneurs and their commitment to our community.  Staples and Best Buy don’t need your patronage as much as the little IT shop in your neighborhood.  Nor do they truly have the commitment to the environment that the IT shop owner has.

Please understand that ERPs are only for residents.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept commercial e-waste as part of the program.  The ERPs are not set up to handle large volume and are really designed for individuals who want to do the right thing but don’t have the funds or need for a 4th Bin pickup.

So please feel free to bring your e-waste to our new ERP:

  1. I have a laptop, an old CPU, a monitor, and 2 desktop printers to recycle. Can I bring them to your East 25th Street address? What days/hours?
    Thank you!

    • Hi Gale,

Assuming you’re a resident and not a business, you’re absolutely welcome to bring your stuff to the ERP. We’re happy to accept whatever you have.

Our partner is Nettech PC Solutions (http://nettechpcsolutions.com/).
Drop off hours are: Monday – Saturday 10am -8pm

You’re also welcome to call Nettech directly, if you have questions about the location. The number is 212-725-6633.

Thank you for using our ERP and recycling your items.

    • Hi Tom,

There’s no charge for residents to drop off their items at an ERP. Feel free to stop on by, and drop off your stuff, during their regular business hours.

  2. Do you do any refurbishment of old PCs?
I’ve been looking for a place to volunteer turning old windows machines to linux for new users and thought you might be able to refer me somewhere.
