John Kirsch, Co-founder of 4THBIN, Discusses E-Waste In RTS' March Spotlight
E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream. According to the “Global E-waste Monitoring Report 2020” 53.6 metric tons of electronic waste (e-waste) was generated while only 17% was collected and recycled. In North America alone 7.7 million metrics tons of electronic waste was generated and only 15% was collected and recycled.
E-waste is not only an environmental issue, but it also poses a data security risk for companies and individuals. Data security continues to be a top risk for companies today. According to InfoSecurity Magazine data leaks and breaches soared to 93% in 2020. Secure handling of the data on your end-of-life electronics is just as critical as your online data. And It requires the same level of discipline and safeguarding.
