When it comes to education, technology has become a foundational component in the classroom. Technology is changing the way students collaborate, communicate, create and critically think. In a world deeply impacted by digital innovations, technology makes learning much more enjoyable for both teachers and students. As time has gone by, tablets have replaced textbooks, and nearly anything we want to research can be done on our smartphones. The impact of technology has allowed learning to become more individualized and interactive.

At 4THBIN, we believe all students should have the opportunity to experience top-quality education. Unfortunately, not all students have been fortunate enough to take part in learning hands-on with technological assets. We annually partner with the United Association for Life’s education program for disabled students, and we most recently sponsored Guatemala’s The Parish School. Our sponsorship allowed us to provide underprivileged students at the Parish School of San Andres Sajcabaja at Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala with technology assets essential to improving their education.

Increased Engagement: Technology allows students to be included in the classroom in ways they have never been before. Integrating technology into the classroom creates a more engaging learning environment for students. Keeping students observant during a lesson will no longer be a challenge, as technology is a great way to retain their attention. Technology creates new opportunities to make learning more enjoyable and understandable. From educational videos to interactive lessons and quizzes, learning with technological gadgets can make otherwise tedious subjects more interesting and fun!

Future Focus: Technology is everywhere, which is why students must become familiar with it as soon as possible. A major aspect in preparing students for their future is by allowing them to develop technical skills that will help them succeed in the rapidly growing digital economy. Understanding the basics of technology will prepare students to enter the workforce once they complete their schooling.

Learning Resources Are Endless: Valuable information is everywhere! The internet is the 21st-century school library, and it’s full of learning resources that can be accessed at any time. Students have access to an endless supply of learning resources that they can use to further their knowledge, research new topics, or even clarify any confusions they may have. Unlimited, instant educational resources are a modern advantage that has allowed students access to an easier and more favorable learning experience.

“Technology ushers in fundamental structural changes that can be integral to achieving significant improvements in productivity. Used to support both teaching and learning, technology infuses classrooms with digital learning tools, such as computers and handheld devices; expands course offerings, experiences, and learning materials; supports learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; builds 21st-century skills; increases student engagement and motivation; and accelerates learning.”  - The U.S. Department of Education

Technology is a powerful teaching tool that prepares students for all future endeavors. That’s why 4THBIN is committed to lessening the digital divide. We know the benefits of technology in the classroom, and we are determined to enhance as many students’ learning experiences as we can. We will continue to do our part, and will further expand our support of important social initiatives and support systems through 2022 and beyond.

Happy Halloween!

To some, the spookiest part of Halloween may be the ghosts or vampires, but to us, it’s the plastic waste that is left behind. Nearly 2,000 tonnes of plastic waste are generated yearly from Halloween scraps, the equivalent of 83 million water bottles. Similar to electronic waste, the scraps that are left behind from Halloween will end up in a landfill - posing major hazards to the environment and humanity.
