From September through December 2026, NYC residents can bring unwanted electronics to convenient neighborhood collection events and give old devices a responsible second life. These community events make it easy to keep electronics and other recyclable materials out of the waste stream while supporting a cleaner, more sustainable New York City.
Whether you have an old laptop sitting in a closet, a drawer full of outdated cables, or electronics you no longer use, this is a great opportunity to clear them out responsibly.

What Can You Recycle?
The LES Ecology Center accepts a wide range of working and non-working electronics, including:
- Computers, including laptops, desktops, servers and mainframes
- Monitors, including CRT and flat-screen models
- Cell phones, tablets and e-readers
- Network equipment such as routers, hubs and modems
- Keyboards, mice, cables, cords and chargers
- Hard drives, circuit boards and power supplies
- Printers under 100 pounds, scanners and fax machines
- TVs, VCRs, DVRs, DVD and Blu-ray players
- Video game consoles and accessories
- Digital converter boxes and cable/satellite receivers
- Audio-visual equipment
- Telecommunication equipment such as phones and answering machines
Clean and dry textiles are also accepted, including clothing, shoes, bags, household textiles and even ripped or damaged fabric.
Please note that batteries, other than lead-acid batteries from UPS systems, and media such as DVDs, VHS tapes and cassette tapes are not accepted at these events.
